About the island

San Pedro Town, Belize, also know as La Isla Bonita, a name inspired from Madonna’s famous song, La Isla Bonita, is Belize’s biggest island of Belize.  It is said that San Pedro is the leading tourist destination in the country since it has accommodations and amenities to all types of travelers.  San Pedro, is a haven to fishermen and divers since the reef is literaly 5 minutes away from the shore, unlike other destination in the country.

Island Life

Carnaval

El Gran Carnval of San Pedro is one of the oldest tradition in the island and still alive and kicking. Nowadays, even tourist enjoy this local tradition only celebrated in La Isla Bonita.

The International Costa Maya Festival

The International Costa Maya Festival is a celebration of the Mundo Maya countries throughout Central America. The first festival was held in 1991 and was called the Sea and Air Festival. All eight Mundo Maya countries (Belize, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama,) participated. Dancers, cultural performers, and musical entertainers from these countries are hosted in San Pedro Town for three days of celebrations. The festival is held during the month of August, and commences on the first Thursday of the month and ends on Saturday with the presentation of an International artist.

Lighted Boat Parade

The annual Holiday Lighted Boat Parade is for sure a beautiful attraction only seen in San Pedro Belize. Many locals, resorts, dive shops decorate their boats with christmas lights and navigate around the front side of the island while spectator watch from the shoreline. There are also boats that offer seats so that you can be part of this beautiful festivity.
